This course is designed to be the equivalent of a college introductory biology course usually taken by biology majors during their first year. Some AP students, as college freshmen, are permitted to undertake upper-level courses in biology or to register for courses for which biology is a prerequisite. Other students may have fulfilled a basic requirement for a laboratory science course and will be able to undertake other courses to pursue their majors.

An introductory course emphasizing scientific methodology, principles of cellular biology (structure, function, metabolism, and cellular division), genetics and evolution. 3 hrs. lecture, 2 hrs. lab. (Formerly numbered BIO 101). May not receive credit for both BIOL 1110 and BIOL 1010 and BIOL 1030. This course is part of the Tennessee Transfer Pathway for all public colleges (T).
A continuation of the study of the structure and function of living organisms and includes the plant and animal kingdoms. Emphasis is placed on tissues, systems, and comparative physiology. Ecology is aslo included. 3 hrs. lecture, 2 hrs. lab. (Formerly numbered BIO 102). May not receive credit for both BIOL 1120 and BIOL 1020. This course is part of the Tennessee Transfer Pathway for all public colleges (T).
