Major cities and sanctuaries in Greece, the Greek colonies, and the Roman Empire. Approach is archaeological, focusing on physical evidence ― landscape, architecture and artifacts ― as well as description by ancient authors. Cities include various types ― planned and unplanned, seaports, caravan centers, government and commercial centers.
