Principles of computer networks with a focus on the Internet and TCP/IP protocol suite. In-depth study of several core issues and design options involved. Employs a top-down approach in the discussion from the application layer down to the physical layer. An emphasis is given on protocol design and performance analysis. Other topics include ad-hoc networking, network security and network simulation. Assignments that require hands-on networking and programming skills will be issued in order to solve concrete problems.
