This course provides a basic foundation in research methods in various fields of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. Emphasis is on foundational notions of sound research design and analysis, applicable across linguistic areas of research, with attention to specific types of research. (Same as French 426; Linguistics 426; Russian 426; Spanish 426.) Repeatability: May be repeated if topic differs. Maximum 6 hours.Recommended Background: Linguistics 200 or two 3rd year foreign language courses.
