Interdisciplinary study of music as a gendered practice in a variety of cultural contexts, including western European art music, American popular music, and others. Explores gendered roles, constructions of gender, and expressions of sexuality in musical composition, performance, participation, and social and political institutions using historical, anthropological, feminist, and queer studies interpretations. (Same as Women, Gender, and Sexuality 330.) Satisfies General Education Requirement: (WC). (RE) Prerequisite(s): ENGL 102, 132, 290, or 298.
