This course will introduction students to structural organizations of the cell and cell physiology. Topics include biological macromolecules, organization and function of cell ultrastructure, cellular energetics, transmembrane transport, cell differentiation, cell cycles, apoptosis, signal transduction and the molecular basis of cancer. The laboratory component will acquaint students with research techniques involved in cytology and molecular biology. Prerequisites: BIOL 201 and junior or senior status.
