Description:
Prerequisites: BIOL 3100. Provides valuable hands-on experiences in performing real experiments in animal behavior and physiology, using invertebrate species. Major emphases are experimental design, data collection, statistical analyses, graphical representations of results, and creation of oral and written scientific reports. Topics may include circadian rhythm control of physiology and behavior, environmental factors influencing aggression, the influence of predation cues on behavior, and the effects of temperature and salinity on the behavior and physiology of fresh-water clams. Course is 4 hours credit (2 hours lecture/discussion plus 4 hours lab per week).
