This class is designed to provide student athletes with a strong base of knowledge and experience as they prepare to assume responsibility for leadership within and outside of their roles as student athletes. The class will provide students with an understanding of their individual leadership styles and the practice of leadership in individual and team sports. The primary purpose of this course is to facilitate learning opportunities and experiences for student athletes, which will provide students with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to lead their team, campus and community. Practices of successful leaders in sport will be examined, as will prominent leadership theory.
