This course covers the study of general dentistry and the foundation of clinical chairside assisting. The course includes infection control, dental-related environmental hazards, management of dental and medical emergencies and emphasis placed on skills in the clinical setting, to include charting, effective communication with patients and members of the dental team.
PREREQUISITE: Acceptance into the Dental Assisting program
HOURS: 45 lecture and 30 lab hours per semester.
CAREER COURSE: Designated primarily for vocational/career programs. This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
