Prerequisite and/or Corequisite: SW 3400;Description: Exploration of the scientific method through research design, hypothesis testing, and data analysis. In a hands-on process the student is guided through formulating a research question, collecting data to answer the question, and analyzing the data for its scientific importance and its importance for social work. The importance of research for providing a knowledge base for the solution of social problems affecting oppressed groups such as women, gays and lesbians, people of color is emphasized in addition to the emphasis on values and ethics required for work with human subjects.
