A comprehensive overview of renewable energies, including comparisons withphotovoltaic (pv) electrical generation, solar thermal, wind, biomass and other alternative fuels. Emphases are placed on the movement from a fossil fuel-based economy to an alternative energy economy using solar-derived fuels. This ties to design and life style alterations, which can result from careful monitoring and utilizing of energy stores available. Site-specific suitability, regulations, investments, economics and energy efficiencies are all investigated with regard to life cycle. Three hours lecture, one hour lab per week. F
