This course seeks to illuminate the historical background of the Bible. In the first part of the course, we will study the foundational concepts of biblical archaeology and discuss the impact of archaeology on the biblical text. In the second part of the course, we will examine the cultures, religions, and literature of the cultures surrounding ancient Israel, first-century Judaism, and the early Christian church.
