This course will introduce students to the complex interactions of Earth's life-sustaining physical systems. Physical geography provides a comprehensive perspective of earth's physical systems that allows students to make connections between local and global physical phenomena within the context of human-environment interaction. Topics will include Earth-Sun relationships, atmospheric processes, elements and controls of climate and weather, climate change, geomorphic processes, soils, natural vegetation and habitats, hydrologic processes and water resources, natural hazards, and human-environment interactions. This course is designed to provide experience that will enable non-science majors to participate in more meaningful ways in their chosen profession and in civic affairs.
