Building on previous knowledge in healthcare informatics this course provides an opportunity to examine the forces driving the migration to digital information systems in health care and the associated desired goals for improvements in value outcomes quality and costs efficiencies. Health information technology and systems are explored for their impact on population health work flow process improvement and fiscal bearing. The course explores data-driven science within the realm of clinical and translational research to assist the nurse in advanced roles to mine electronic data sets and to prepare for the future with skills for knowledge management to support evidence-based practice and research application
