This course deals with English poetry (primarily of the Romantic and Victorian periods) that responds to visual works of art, and vice versa. While not neglecting the importance of sound in poetry, this course focuses on the images that inspire it, as well as those that it inspires. Its aim is to show how a study of the interrelationships between poetry and the visual arts can enrich our understanding of both. Prerequisite: E 102. (On demand.)
