This course is a study of instruments in the string and woodwind families. Students will discover through analysis how composers have scored for these instruments and learn to apply basic principles of instrumentation. the violin and cello will provide a platform for learning about string instruments. Emphasis will be placed on strengthening the student's reading and performance of string notation. The flute and clarinet will be the main instruments of study in the woodwind family.
