Community practice is presented from a generalist social work perspective. Material presented throughout this course emphasizes micro and macro approaches to social work with groups and communities. Course work includes exploration into conducting needs assessments; planning for group work; treatment and organization theories and intervention techniques for work with groups; group leadership, identification of group dynamics and community diversity; and ethical considerations. They dynamics of grassroots organizations will be examined and a grant writing component will be included. Prerequisite: SWK 434
