This course provides an introductory overview of management theory, management functions, organizational structure, daily management responsibilities, ethics, and current management tools and resources. Theoretical concepts will be illustrated with practical application to real-world management problems and scenarios. Implications for managing change within the context of a global economy and other dynamic environmental forces are also examined. Additionally, this course examines the theories, skills, and current ideas related to effective leadership practice in business and not-for-profit organizations. Topics examined include psychological drivers of leadership, leading with vision, forming strategy, leading culture change, leading teams, and leading with integrity. The role of communication in leadership and the intangible dimensions of leadership and innovation are also studied.
