Prerequisite: HIST 3410. A study of the origins, course and consequences of World War II in the Pacific. Emphasis will be placed not only on the political, diplomatic, and military aspects of the war but also on the racial, technological, and ideological ramifications. The course will begin with the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War in 1937 and end with the beginning of the Cold War and the rebuilding of Japan.
