Description:
This course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills needed to participate in and enjoy kayaking as a recreational lifetime activity. Special emphasis will be given to the development of sound fundamental knowledge and skills such as paddling and steering techniques; rolling; fitting, care and use of equipment; personal safety skills; and reading moving water. Due to the nature of this course, all students will be required to make class field trips to paddling sites in the surrounding area. This course will be offered in conjunction with the Center for Physical Activity and will involve additional cost to cover the use of equipment and travel to paddling sites in the area.
