This course will provide the student with an overview of health and safetyissues related to Special Education. Additionally, the course will providethe student with an overview of special education law, including P.L.94-142,IDEA, and Section 504 so the he/she will be knowledgeable of educators' legalobligations to all students. Additionally, the student will acquire a basicunderstanding of the IEP, its purpose, how it is developed, and theresponsibilities of the individuals involved in its implementation. Usingrole playing, the student will experience an M-team and IEP development fromthe viewpoint of parents, paraeducators and education professionals.
