Definition and properties of probability functions; random variables, moment generating functions; mean, variance and higher moments; discrete distributions; binomial, hypergeometric, Poisson, geometric, negative binomial; continuous distributions; uniform, exponential, gamma, normal, Cauchy, chi-square, t, and F distributions; central limit theorem; functions of a random variable; bivariate, marginal, and conditional distributions and covariance. NOTE: Students may not receive credit for both MATH 4614 and MATH 4635. PREREQUISITE: MATH 1920 with a minimum grade of C-.
