Founded in 1819, Maryville is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the nation and is a Presbyterian (USA) church-related college, welcoming students of all faiths.  Known for offering its students a rigorous and highly personal experience, Maryville College is one of the nation’s few colleges requiring seniors to complete a comprehensive exam in their major and conduct an extensive Senior Thesis. The College also is known for successfully joining the liberal arts and professional preparation. Its Maryville College Works program requires students to complete a significant practical experience before graduation.
