    Nashville State Community College is an open-admission comprehensive educational institution, serving a very diverse student population and a broad geographic area. Outreach programs and special services for sub-populations include first-generation students, adult students, and English as a Second Language students. The college offers the Associate of Applied Science technical and career degrees, and the Associate of Arts, the Associate of Science, and the Associate of Science in Teaching transfer degrees. Nashville State has over 80 programs of study covering broad areas including business, applied arts, information and engineering technologies, health sciences, social and life sciences, math, science, humanities, and the arts.

    • Student Services Extended Hours:
      Admissions will not host office hours during COVID-19. Traditional hours at Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm. Extended hours Wednesday until 5:30 pm.

      Not available to students on campus but do have community partners that students can be connected with to support their families.

    Transfer Application Requirements

    • Minimum GPA:
      NSCC is open enrollment and do not use GPA as a consideration for Admissions.
    • Official Transcripts:
      Submit transcripts from all previously attended institutions. Students may also be required to submit an official high school transcript or official GED/HiSet score report.
    • SAT/ACT Scores:
      Applicants under the age of 21 will need to submit ACT scores. Applicants over 21 will need to take the on-campus Accuplacer test. These scores are used to determine in which areas the applicant may be required to complete college prep course work.
    • Letters of Recommendation:
      Letters of Recommendation are only required in majors that have separate applications (i.e. Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Surgical Technology).
    • Essay:
      Not required for admission.
    • Application Fee:
      NSCC does not have an application fee for students applying to the college.
    • Interview:
      Interviews are only required in majors that have separate applications (i.e. Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Surgical Technology).
    • Associates Degree Required:
      Previous higher education coursework can be evaluated for transfer credit but are not required to attend NSCC or earn the TN Reconnect scholarship.
    • Other Requirements:
      Students will need to submit a document highlighting proof of citizenship (state driver's license) and immunization waiver (or shot record).

    Transfer Credit Policy

    • Minimum Grade:
      NSCC transfers in all courses; however only courses with a minimum grade of D may count toward the program of study unless otherwise specified.
    • Credits (Min/Max):
      You must earn at least 25% of credit hours required for the degree through instruction delivered by NSCC.
