Prerequisite: GERM 2020;Description: German Literature for the 21st Century will focus on German literature from the late 20th and early 21st century. The course will analyze the role of German literature, and of German Graphic Novels in particular, as a medium, which, observes, depicts, analyzes, and provides (sometimes autobiographical) experience with/commentary on important social topics such as race, gender, sexuality, disability, neurodiversity, history, war, and art. This will lead to the second emphasis of the course: the theory and practice of literary translations from English into German and vice versa.
