Prerequisite: ART 1340 , ART 1350 and ART 1360;Description: This course is an introduction to book arts and related media. In the course, we will explore the history of books as a tool for disseminating knowledge as well as a form of art that is both sequential and sculptural. The focus on presenting writing through type aligns the goals of this class with creative writing, and students are encouraged to explore both independent as well as established texts within their work. A range of technical exercises will familiarize students with tools, vocabularies, and procedures that will ultimately serve in the creation of unique expressions of art through book, image, and text.
