      Prerequisite: Permission of instructor;Description: This course is offered for thos who desire to pursue a special sudy of some medical/biological problem beyond what is possible in regular courses. The student is expected tos elect and plan a research problem and pursue it to some state of completion. The data are to be written in acceptable scientific form and available for a seminar. Maximum of four hours.

The processing and handling of clinical specimens with emphasis on state of the art isolation an identification of pathogenic bacteria is included. The theory and laboratory practice in clinical serology used in diagnosis of infectious disease is also emphasized. (Including ASO, CRP, RPR, ELISA, and IF)

Discussion of physical and cellular aspects of body fluids, microscopic examination, specimen collection, and handling of transudates, exudates, and other body fluids.
