Description: This course covers the basics ofhow state and local governments operate. It includes topics such as federalism, state constitutions, political parties and elections at the state and local level, legislatures, governors, the judiciary, the structure of local governments, and public budgeting and service delivery. The course also deals with several issue areas of concern to states and local governments such as education, criminal justice, economic development, and social welfare and healthcare policy.
