However, some familiarity with the law enforcement system including concepts, organization, and functions will facilitate the student achieving the objectives of thiscourse. Description: This course is designed to provide the foundation for understanding the American law enforcement system by introducing essential elements ofAmerican law enforcement organization and practices. The main focus of the course is to examine the development of early policing and modern lawenforcement systems; recruitment and training process; the structure and function of the police; legal issues that affect policing; and current issues and problems in the field of law enforcement.
