Prerequisite: ENGL 2330;Description: Introduction to religious beliefs and practices of the ancient Greeks and Romans, concentrating on Athens in the fifth and fourth centuries B.C. andRome in the 1st centuries B.C. and A.D., and exploring cult practices in other periods and areas under Greek or Roman influence, including early Christianity. Major deities, rituals, festivals, cults, sanctuaries, and their context within civic life. Knowledge of Greek and/or Latin language not required.
