The internship is designed to give the student direct experience in various health care settings. The experimental component allows the student an opportunity to apply newly acquired normative and cognitive skills in an actual working situation. The areas from which students may choose are hospitals, state and federal government agencies, long-term care facilities, intermediate care facilities, grouppractices, insurance companies, the pharmaceutical industry, medicalprograms, and volunteer agencies. During the 12-week placement, thesummer between the junior and senior year, students will be required tosubmit mid-term and final reports to the Department. Prerequisites: Seniorstanding, completion of a minimum of 30 credit hours of HCAP majorcourses, and permission of instructor. (Formerly HCA 400).
