Students provide care to individuals experiencing variations in function. Clinical experiences occur in a variety of community based and extended care settings..

With continued emphasis on assessment, students plan and implement interventions and evaluate outcomes to assist diverse individuals across the life span that are experiencing alterations in health. Content focuses on intro to acute care, perioperative care, altered cell function (cancer), andalterations in comfort/rest, nutrition/metabolism, and psychosocial/cultural functions. The concepts of safety, management of care, and informatics continue to be integrated. Students apply a clinical decision making process in caring for pediatric and adult clients in the acute care, surgical, and community based settings.

      Progressive development of psychomotor, cognitive and affective competencies needed to assume the roles of the associate degree nurse in caring for diverse individuals across the life span; students assess clients and plan, implement and evaluate interventions to promote, maintain and restore health; clinical experience in extended, acute and ambulatory care and community based settings, 6 class hours and 9 lab hours, nursing lab fee, achievement test fee and liability insurance required. Alterations in function: protective, activity/mobility, comfort/rest, fluid/gas transport, psychosocial/cultural, growth and development, nutrition/metabolism, elimination and sensory/perceptual; focus on adult and pediatric client care.
