									Prerequisites: GEOS 1050 and GEOS 1051. Provides a broad background in paleontological method and theory, as well as a strong foundation in major animal groups throughout geologic time. Focuses, through lectures, discussions, lab exercises, and field trips, on the formation of fossils, speciation, systematics, evolution, extinction, functional morphology, paleoecology, biogeography, biostratigraphy, and invertebrate and vertebrate groups.
