Prerequisite(s): Completion of History 2010 and 2020 is suggested, but not required. This course describes and analyzes the history of American military policy from the colonial period to the present. It focuses on the creation of American military institutions, the genesis of policy-making, the maintenance of civilian control over the military, the conduct of war, the interrelationship between foreign policy and military policy, and the influence of American society upon the armed forces as social institutions.
