This is calculus-based introduction to electricity, magnetism, and optics appropriate for science, math, and pre-engineering students. Topics covered include electric fields, continuous charge distributions, ,capacitance, direct-current circuits, magnetic fields, inductance, alternating-current circuits, ray optics, and wave optics. An introduction to additional modern physics topics may be included at the instructor's discretion. Deriving equations, problem solving, and application of physical principles in a variety of contexts will be emphasized. This course includes three hours lecture and three hours laboratory each week.
