Using current drawing and presentation mediums, students will prepare and present a medium sized architectural project. In addition the use of Architectural precedents and concepts are explored in the creative process of developing an architectural design project. Topics include an introduction to basic concepts of sustainable building design, daylighting, exterior envelope assemblies, renewable energy alternatives, reusable and renewable materials, and LEED document preparation. This course presents rating systems for high-performance buildings developed by the US Green Building Council and other international organizations. Students will learn a descriptive, formal vocabulary while researching significant artists, techniques, periods, and styles. Topics include the relationship between art, religion, politics, and society in a variety of cultures. Prerequisite(s): Level 1 placement in English; Level 2 placement in Reading or concurrent enrollment in READ 0815. Note: ART 1035 meets the general education requirement for Humanities.
