An advanced project-based workshop with an emphasis on the convergence of image and text in contemporary communication. The course explores rhetorical theory and multimodal writing by combining both seminar and studio experiences. Taught by a variety of professors, the topics may include rhetorical awareness, visual argument and narrative, typography, page layout, image editing, data and information visualization, ethics and representation, copyright law, and fair use standards. The goal of the course is to introduce students to thinking both as writers and designers. Prerequisite: ENGL 2050 or department head approval.
