A basic course to prepare the student to work and communicate with patients and the dental members effectively. Emphasis is on ethics, legal aspects, terminology, oral histology, dental morphology, charting, embryology, oral and written communication and patient care.

PREREQUISITE: Acceptance into the Dental Assistant Program or permission of the Director of the Dental Assistant Program
COREQUISITE: None
HOURS: Fifteen lecture hours per semester.
CAREER COURSE: Designated primarily for vocational/career programs. This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
