A study of the universe beginning with the earth-moon system, the planets and their satellites, the sun, asteroids and comets, and continuing to the stellar system. Star classifications, energy processes, star groups, evolution of stars and larger associations such as galaxies are studied. Laboratory exercises include sky observations and constellation study. PREREQUISITE: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies and Reading and Writing and an ACT Math subscore of 19 (or equivalent) or completion of MATH 1005, 1130, 1710 or higher with a grade of C or higher.

COREQUISITE: ASTR 1030L

This course is an introduction to the biological sciences with an emphasis on basic concepts of the building blocks of life at the molecular and cellular levels. Functions of cellular organelles, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, protein synthessis, genetics, cell reproduction, and evolution will be emphasized. (Same as TNeCampus BIOL 1010)

This course is a continuation of Introduction to Biology with emphasis on tissues, morphology, and evolutionary relationships. Unifying and comparative features will be stressed. Attention will be given to ecology and environmental issues. (Same as TN eCampus BIOL 1020)
