  This course is an entry level survey to the culture and society of China. We will talk about some Chinese cultural concepts (qi, yin/yang, fengshui, etc.) and political foundations from a historical perspective. We will also discuss a few important themes, such as gender and family in China, ethnicities, public health, food culture of China, and tourism and environmental issues of China. we will mainly use scholarly works, but a few films will be shown to assist understanding thematic topics.
