This course examines the role of evidence to substantiate arguments not only in courts of law but also in social discourse, policy debates, and the court of public opinion. Starting with the Federal Rules of Evidence, we explore factors like relevance, hearsay, credibility, and probative value. How do those factors affect persuasive dialogue both within and beyond the legal sphere? Prerequisites are ENGL 1010 and 1020.
