  This course will provide an introduction to the sociological study of gender and society. We will explore and examine the links between society and gender primarily through film. Students will demonstrate their increasing knowledge of sociological concepts and theories that relate to gender and society through writing papers and participation in class discussions. A student�s written work will be the primary way in which how well students have acquired course knowledge.

A primary goal of this course is to provide students with the tools to have an engaging and intellectual discussion of popular culture and its components. Students will demonstrate their increasing knowledge of the sociology of popular culture through writings and participation in class discussions. Examinations and presentations will be used to evaluate how well students have acquired this knowledge.
