(Prerequisite: MUS 1155, MUS 1156; Corequisite: MUS 2056)This course is a study of more complex four-part harmonic progressions in all chord positions. chords with added ninths, elevenths and thirteenths. Advanced types of modulation and chord structures such as augmented 6th chords Neopolitan sixths will be studied and included in written assignments and entered into Finale and Sibelius. A brief study of atonal, twleve-tone serial composition and quartal/quintal composition will be included. 3 hours lecture.

(Prerequisites: MUS 1155, MUS 1156) (Co-requisites: MUS 2055)This course is an advanced level of ear training that includes the use of more contemporary musical styles which employ modes and extended harmonies. Students will be expected to demonstrate competency in sight singing more difficult melodic materials in both traditional common practice styles and the modern idioms. More advanced syllabic singing will be included. 2 hours laboratory.
