    This course is intended to assist students studying in the fields of health care. The importance of accurate spelling, definition pronunciation and usage of medical terms is stressed. Case studies and a word-building system will be utilized. Case studies will introduce terms in a clinical context. By studying Latin and Greek prefixes, suffixes, word roots and combining forms, students should be able to analyze new and unfamilar terms. Offered every other year.

    An in-depth treatment of human cells and tissues and the logic of their organization. After studying the basic tissues, students will explore the functional anatomy of organs and organ systems. Structure-function relationships will be emphasized. Laboratory will consist of extensive microscopic examination of prepared slides, emphasizing identification of structures, tissues and organs. Prerequisites: BIOL 120. BIOL 302 is highly recommended as well.
