Adaptive processes designed to meet the literacy development needs of all children are accepted as essential components of reading instruction. This course emphasizes that diagnosis and correction and other adaptive individualized strategies are processes that should be practiced as integral components of reading instruction and should take place on a daily basis. Designed to prepare elementary and middle school teachers to teach reading in Grades K-8 this course also focuses on reading in the content area (across the curriculum). Direct experience in working with students in an elementary or middle school setting is required.
