This course is an exploration of historical and contemporary understandings of death and dying with special attention given to how religious values and cultural frameworks shape our experiences of dying death and bereavement and how the inevitability of death encourages us to live more intentionally and meaningfully. The topics to be covered may include attitudes about death and dying the funeral industry suicide euthanasia hospice and palliative care near death experiences what constitutes a �good death� and the grieving process.
