This course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of health care problems of children and their families. Students will learn the assessment and management of pediatric problems related to perioperative care, altered sensory input, integumentary problems, cancer, oxygenation, gastrointestinal, urinary, endocrine, reproductive, neurologic, and musculoskeletal systems. Concepts related to communication skills, patient teaching, evidence-based practice, ethical/legal/economic issues, and quality, safety, and patient-centered care are interwoven throughout the content. will. The course emphasizes the development of nursing skills and the application of the nursing process. Prerequisite: Successful completion of NURS 301, NURS 302, NURS 311 and NURS 321 with a grade of C or better. Corequisites: NURS 331, NURS 341, NURS 342 and NURS 352.
