    • This course studies fluids and electrolytes in the body withemphasis placed upon the manifestation of fluid and electrolyteimbalances. The effects of dehydration and over hydration areincluded. The course also deals with the causes, signs, andsymptoms of shock, fluid administration through intravenoustechniques, and the application of medical anti-shock trousers(MAST). Successful completion of this course allows the studentto sit for the licensure examination given by the Tennessee Departmentof Health, Division of Emergency Medical Services.(Prerequisites: Students must hold current Tennessee licensureas an EMT to sit for licensure.) Other allied health professionalsmay take the course for credit. Brings currently licensed EMTsup to the standards of the newly improved EMT curriculum.Includes course content of EMTB 1100.
