      This course is designed to provide an in-depth clinical experience in teaching K-12 students with disabilities. Teacher candidates will plan, implement, and evaluate instruction under the guidance of a mentoring teacher. This course will include (a) planning, instruction, and assessment based on needs of students with disabilities, (b) implementation of special education high-leverage practices, and (c) use of research-based strategies to engage students and maintain and facilitate appropriate behavior.       Emphasizes the application of applied behavior anlaysis principles including the study of designing, implementing, and evaluating behavior analytic interventions relevant to alleviating significant problem behaviors in the classroom setting. Learners examine topics in the use of applied behavior anlaysis such as direct instruction, behavior reduction, functional analysis, positive behavioral supports, and ethical issues in the use of various procedures.
