An introductory course using the AutoCAD software. Topics includefamiliarization with computers and the basic elements of computer-aideddrafting as it is used in professional practice. The student gains hands-onexperience at the computer while working on a variety of drafting exercises invarious disciplines. Students will complete this class with entry levelcomputer-aided drafting skills.

Computer-Aided Drafting I introduces two-dimensional computer-aided drafting (CAD) and examines the hardware of a CAD workstation. It also covers the operating system that enables the equipment to function as a unit. The course shows how to use the CAD system to set up drawings and construct lines, circles, arcs, other shapes, geometric constructions, and text entities. The student will use display and editing techniques as well as obtain information about their drawing files.
